DevFest - GDG Hotsite

Developing the website for DevFest was undoubtedly one of the most significant experiences of my professional journey so far. The project arose from a real demand for the DevFest event, organized by the Google Developers Group Belo Horizonte (GDG-BH) — one of the largest technology gatherings in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

From the beginning, the project gave me the opportunity to work directly with GDG organizers, leading frequent meetings to understand their needs and align expectations. The website's proposal was built collaboratively, based on continuous research and validation, which resulted in well-directed prototypes aligned with the event’s objectives. After this stage, I began developing the application using Next.js, a modern framework based on React, ensuring performance and scalability for the website.

What I Learned

This project was a turning point for me — not only from a technical perspective, but especially in developing interpersonal skills. For the first time, I acted as the leader of a development team, which allowed me to strengthen my communication, empathy, and decision-making in real scenarios.

In addition, I sharpened my strategic thinking by conducting research with the actual 'client' and transforming those needs into functional solutions. In practice, I was able to improve both my prototyping process, with a focus on UX/UI, and my coding skills, further consolidating my front-end development knowledge.
